Signage leads the way; show us where to go, park and do!

It is impossible to think of a world without signage. Signs lead the way; show us where to go, where to park and what to do. But more importantly, signs help people find the way to your business property such as a shop or hotel; any type of business. Signage is the common word for any type of sign image or pictogram. This image depicts a situation presented in a very clear way.

Statutory road signage is made with bold clear colours and universal signs to get the message of a sign across. In most EU countries the images on any road signs are printed at 80% of the height of the sign area that the message is printed on.

A road sign or any kind of information sign is very legibly printed and is placed in a clear spot where the group of people that the information on the sign is meant for, can clearly see it. Especially signs giving instructions or signage for traffic situations must be placed in a specially designated space on the right side of a road or traffic situation.
Many years ago signs were made out of wood or metal. Nowadays most signs are made of metal with a PVC coating or made out of vinyl (also known as PVC). Most sign printing is done with the aid of computers nowadays and there are even so-called moulded signs. Moulded signs are signs manufactured out of plastics and shaped in moulds designed by computers using 3D programmes. Have you ever seen a giant ice cream cone or bag of chips? Those signs are moulded.

Another type of signage is private signage. This type of sign can help you to keep people away from your properties, to stop people from parking where they shouldn’t (in front of your garden or carport exit for example) and to warn people that they are at risk if they enter your premises since you have a big dog. Even a visit to a toilet in a public place can be a difficult thing to do without signage. Imagine trying to find the right direction on the motorway or in an unknown town.

Commercial signage such as bar and pub signs and signs for restaurants and hotels and other types of businesses are important to entrepreneurs. If you don’t have a clear sign on your property chances are that potential customers will not be able to find you. Most commercial signs are made out of metal or plastics and are fixed onto a commercial property. These signs can display text only or a range of symbols or images depicting the meaning that a company wants to convey to its customers.

For most people there is no business without signage and it is impossible to imagine driving around without the aid of signage on the streets. Consider having your own signs made of you own a business. The way you present yourself as a company is more important to potential customers than you might imagine.
