About Edward

Joined HFE:

November 2016

My Role at HFE:

My position is within the accounts function at HFE. Although my role is entitled Accounts Bookkeeper, the position encompasses an extensive range of duties and not just transactional inputting of data. For instance, I am involved with processing customer’s orders and invoices, dealing with customer delivery queries, tracking orders, processing delivery labels, taking payments, dealing with all aspects of payroll as well as packaging and making sure that all bank accounts are reconciled for smooth accounts operation. So quite a mixed bag really!

Brief professional background:

My professional career is about as eclectic as they come!……….I undertook a music degree at the University of Huddersfield, graduating with a 2:1 in 2005 with no idea regarding possible career aspirations. My heart wanted to stay with music but my head told me that I needed more business skills so hence I graduated in 2010 with a Masters in Arts Management. From then onwards my interest shifted towards everything finance. After a brief spell training as a draughtsman, I entered the finance profession with a couple of payroll/accounts positions. Coupled with undertaking an AAT qualification my previous finance positions have put me in good stead for my new role at HFE, where I am delighted to be working.

Hobbies out of work:

My interests are mainly music related (surprise, surprise), having played in brass bands and windbands all my life, even conducting a few! I also like to write my own music whenever I get the chance, teach peripatetically and listen to as many different musical styles as I can. Outside of music, I enjoy travelling, seeing new places, experiencing new cultures, walking in the country and visiting historical properties.

Claims to fame:

I once accompanied Katherine Jenkins in a performance at a Rugby League World Cup match.
