HFE Donate Rigid Signs to Colour Green Charity Day

24th October 2014

THE colour green may normally be associated with jealousy, but it became the hue of charity for students in Burton this week.

Young people involved in the health and social care course at Burton and South Derbyshire College dressed in all shades of green for the day yesterday as they held a fund-raiser to support Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event was designed to raise awareness of cancer and give students a chance to talk to people about difficult issues.

There were a range of stalls selling cakes, books, clothes and loom bands, along with face painting and a remembrance tree.

Lecturer Kate Richards said: "There doesn't seem to be any of us, young or not so young, who have not been touched by cancer in some way. The students have done an excellent job in organising the event and we are delighted to be raising much needed funds for Macmillan."

HFE heard about the event and stepped in to help by offering some free rigid plastic signs professionally printed and trimmed to give better identity to the event.
